Review: Gomez - Five Men In A Hut, As, Bs and Rarities 1998-2004:

Upon first listen this two disc Best Of/Rarities compilation is certainly not the place the start for this band. It jumps all over the map landing in one genre only to be transported to another. It's catchy only to be mundane and fast only to be slow. Not all is lost, however, as longtime fans of the band (or at least those that were fans for the 6 year period these discs represent) should find adequate amounts of material to continue to be fans.

both discs are full of songs that the diehard Gomez fan would enjoy hearing. at least ones i mostly haven't heard before. it's a very good mix. compilation is lacking a little. however i don't think it was up to Gomez when it came to that, their previous record company put this out to make one last bit of money off of them. now they have a new record company and kicking shit down the street.

Actually, according to the band they had full control of what went on this album. Definitely for the die hards only though!
