Upon first listen this folky, classic rock-esque album shows a lot of promise for the heretofore relatively-unknown Carlile. A lot of promise that isn't fulfilled on this outing but could be further down the road.

I am curious how it will do after the Grey's Anatomy promotion. I haven't been able to get into Brandi myself. For female alt-country, I much prefer Patty Griffin's latest album.
Do you realize that the album you're reviewing - "Brandi Carlile" - is two years old.
The new one is "The Story". It came out 10 days ago. You may want to try that one.
